James Lu is a Distinguished Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scientist in Clinical Pharmacology at Genentech, based in South San Francisco. He has been with the company since 2017 and currently leads a team of AI scientists to develop and apply advanced machine learning (ML) algorithms to clinical data in support of drug development and has 10+ journal publications in AI/ML from his work at Genentech. Prior to that, he took on modeling roles at AstraZeneca (Cambridge, UK) and Roche (Basel, Switzerland) with a focus on in-silico Disease Modeling/QSP. He co-chairs the IQ Consortium Working Group on AI/ML since 2021, served on the ACoP Scientific Programming Committee (2022-2023) and is a member of the Editorial Board for CPT:Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology.
